Shopfitting Castor Load Ratings and Tread Materials
Wheels run from a 14mm COMPACTA up to 125mm ALPHA castors, rated from 10kg to 250kg dynamic per castor. TENTEprene (thermoplastic rubber) is the most common tread, alongside polyurethane, polyamide, solid rubber and polypropylene. On polished shop floors, TENTEprene or polyurethane rolls quietly and does not mark.
Common Fittings for Shopfitting Castors
Plate fitting suits units with a solid base, bolt hole works for a single central fixing, and blind hole castors push into tubular or panel frames. For display units that must not creep, choose swivel castors with total lock or wheel brake.
